Guided Walk Saturday 25 February

Guided Walk 25 February 2017

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership are hosting another in a series of guided walks on Saturday 25 February.

Starting from Trimley Station the 7.0 Mile 'Orwell and Trimley Marshes' walk will meander through the bird-rich tidal reaches of the River Orwell, with panoramic views from Sleighton Hill over the estuary. The lagoons, reed beds and grazing meadows of Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Trimley Marshes Reserve, along with a visit to the Hides, contrast with the busy port of Felixstowe in the background.

Participating in the walk is FREE, open to the public, and there is no need to book, just show up on the day. Starts from Trimley Station at 10:31 following arrival of the 10:28 train from Felixstowe, the 9:58 train from Ipswich, and the 8:07 train from Lowestoft (change at Ipswich).

The walk is being led by Maureen Colledge & David Bays and is expected to last around 3.5 hours. All are welcome including well-behaved dogs. Return trains run at :18 minutes past the hour to Felixstowe and :31 minutes past the hour to Ipswich.

It is recommended that you bring along your own drink and snack, wear suitable footwear and waterproof clothing as the route could be muddy in places. All participants take part entirely at their own risk.

The walk is No. 15 in the East Suffolk Lines Walks booklet 2016 edition; it is also available as a download.
